About Us
The aim of The Art Exchange is to advance the education of the public in Wakefield and the surrounding areas by the provision of facility for artists of all genres to display their works and encourage and expand the number of artists with different technical abilities and skills to celebrate and appreciate the culture of the area and encourage participation and appreciation of art, publishing, performance and writing. We work with external organisations and deliver art packages including but not limited to sensory art, therapeutic art and art history. Encouraging those who wouldn’t generally have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and creativity in the art field in the form of workshops and extra curricular activities. We encourage recycling and repurposing of artist paints to allow those with little access to materials to expand their art skill and knowledge.
"Having previously worked in the public sector, and encompassing training in cognitive behavioural therapy, mental health first aid, bereavement counselling and child psychology, I have become infatuated with the human mind, and what happens to us to define who we are. Within my work I explore the notion of nature and nurture, our relation to nature and how we have developed a civilization, running alongside a natural world."
